WHO IS BEHIND READY FOR RED?
The digital learning platform READY FOR RED was developed by erdbeerwoche in cooperation with over 500 teenagers, (sex) educators, gynaecologists and other experts.
erdbeerwoche is the first social business in Vienna specialising in menstruation. The social enterprise was founded to break the taboo concerning menstruation and to convey necessary knowledge and a positive attitude towards the subject. See here for more info on erdbeerwoche.
WHAT IS READY FOR RED?
The digital learning platform READY FOR RED provides girls* and boys from 10 to 16 years with all the important facts about menstruation, cycle and monthly hygiene. In four levels and more than 70 interactive games, videos and exercises, the teenagers learn everything they need to know about these important topics. The platform is made especially for girls AND boys, since the taboo of menstruation can only be broken if both genders are equally included.

OUR VISION
The aim of READY FOR RED is to enable girls and boys to independently and freely engage with the topic of menstruation and to foster breaking the taboo. READY FOR RED aims to start wide-ranging information on the subject of menstruation amongst teenagers.
The digital learning platform – combined with physical illustrative and teaching material – helps teachers and educators to convey the necessary contents around the subject of menstruation, the cycle and menstrual hygiene and the social relevance of the topic to teenagers aged 10 to 16 years.
FOR CURIOUS TEENAGERS
we have provided some games & videos from the platform here. Click through these alone, with your family or friends.
*We define “girl” as a person who feels like a girl. We are, however, aware that there are people who have female sexual organs but do not identify as female or menstruate.
On the other hand, there are people who do not identify as female (such as transgender, intersexual, and non-binary people) yet menstruate.
OUR MOTIVATION
Over the years, erdbeerwoche’s educational work showed that we have to start from one place, in particular, to achieve a sustainable change in awareness: teenagers at the time of their puberty, when most girls* start having their periods and the relationship to their own bodies is strengthened.
A survey of 1,100 teenagers conducted by erdbeerwoche showed that the female period is still a massive taboo for most teenagers. This results in insecurity, false knowledge and, finally, the isolation of girls during their periods. This is why we developed READY FOR RED.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
READY FOR RED is made to provide low-threshold access to digital teaching content by choosing a website rather than an app. It works not only on cell phones, but also on computers and tablets.
No special technical knowledge is required to use the platform, and there is also no need for a PC room in the school. In the classroom, however, a PC with a projector and speakers as well as Internet access for the teacher should be provided. The teenagers can use the platform on their own smartphones or on the school’s PCs, laptops or tablets.
